I'm a self-shooting video journalist and experienced on-screen reporter who's worked around Europe and Latin America. I speak fluent Spanish, French, and Italian and good German and Portuguese. I am fluent in the use of Sony HD cameras and in Final Cut Pro, Avid Newscutter and Adobe Premiere editing.

-writing, producing and presenting several business bulletins a day for Reuters Insider clients, wrapping up the stories that are moving markets
-presenting, reporting and finding all my own guests for The Switch weekly series on climate change

July 2014 - March 2020

- Provided TV and radio live crosses and news features for client channels around the world including CGTN, Channel News Asia, SABC and TRT World
- Set up a bureau in Paris alone in 2017 and quickly turned it into one of the company's busiest international bureaux (having previously launched bureaux in Rome and Caracas)
- Shot and edited all packages alone as well as fronting them and coming up with original ideas
- Covered the refugee crisis across Europe, from refugee camps in Turkey to Calais
- Undertook reporting assignments around the world, such as covering the aftermath of the MH17 crash from eastern Ukraine

-Part of a team of two responsible for covering all of Latin America
-Shot, edited and voiced my own packages, regularly coming up with original ideas
-Covered major international news events in the field, such as the death of Hugo Chavez (responsible for planning, organization and research for each trip, as well as shooting, transmission and all technical aspects)
-Planned and organized all AFPTV’s Latin America coverage
-Managed and co-ordinated a team of freelancers, commissioning and editing their work

November 2009-July 2012 and 2013-2014
-Edited and voiced packages in a fast-paced news environment
-Anchored news bulletins in the studio and reported live in the field, leaving me confident and comfortable on screen
-Covered a wide range of international stories, including a focus on financial and business news
-Part of the breakfast show presenting team from June 2011 to July 2012, including a daily slot for four months explaining the 2012 French election to a foreign audience (I was entirely responsible for choosing and creating the content, so it was a good exercise in editorial judgment as well as finding attention-grabbing angles to stop the subject getting dull)
-Undertook foreign reporting assignments, such as covering the annexation of Crimea by Russia

May-November 2009 (freelance):
-Edited audio, produced interviews, and wrote scripts for presenters
-Found expert guests at short notice and made editorial judgements on how to cover major breaking stories
-Found original story ideas

Producer and researcher, BBC Mexico bureau, Mexico City. 

September 2006 - July 2007
-Found original story ideas to engage a global audience across Mexico and Central America
-Researched stories, found interviewees, planned and organized television shoots
-Made radio packages
-Conducted interviews in Spanish and English and translated between the two languages at a high professional level
-Worked on numerous major global news stories, including illegal immigration and drug trafficking across the US border, and carried out challenging assignments such as gaining access to a maximum security prison to interview a convicted murderer.
